We are a seeking an experienced hybrid Data Analyst/Modeler to work in an agile environment to implement data solutions that streamline and support Air Force Material Command enterprise information management.  This person should have an in-depth knowledge of data warehousing and operational data stores, the ability to create complex queries to analyze and normalize the data, and host data in tables for use by the Service Parts Management (SPM) forecast and material management application and other data subscribers. The modeler should be able to design models that reduce data redundancy, streamline data movements, and improve enterprise information management for the Air Force logistics community. This person will work closely with the Data Architect and the Data Operations and Integration Teams. 

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and translate business needs into solution-oriented data models
  • Evaluate existing data systems and their data hosted in the ESCAPE Operational Data Store
  • Possess knowledge of Azure SQL Server
    • Expertise in developing complex SQL queries to validate data, identify data inconsistencies, analyze trends, and identify changes in the data over time.
  • Identify laws, regulations, and/or policies associated with the data
  • Work with developers to create conceptual data models and data flows
  • Decompose data flows by identifying and defining data requirements at the data level.
  • Implement data strategies and develop the physical data models from these strategies
  • Utilize best data coding practices to ensure consistency within the system
  • Review modifications to existing systems for cross-compatibility
  • Update and optimize metadata models
  • Evaluate implemented data systems for variances, discrepancies, and efficiency

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a similar field
  • Required Knowledge/Experience:
    • Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience with physical and relational data modeling
    • Expert knowledge of metadata management and related tools
    • Knowledge of mathematical foundations and statistical analysis
    • Working knowledge of structured modeling techniques
    • Strong communication skills
    • Proficient in MS Office Suite of tools
  • Preferred Knowledge/Experience:
    • Has attained certification in Data Modeling (e.g., CBDM, DMC, CDMP or like certification)
    • Knowledgeable of commercial data modeling tools like ER/Studio, Erwin, DBSchema and ConceptDraw.
    • Knowledge of Air Force logistics data and LOG IT systems, specifically supply data is highly desired
  • Clearance Requirement:
    • SECRET Clearance or Clearance Eligible

  • Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of the department/contract
  • Perform other duties as assigned
