TACG is seeking a part time Technical Support Specialist to provide the Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC) with functional and technical support for the Purchase Request Process System (PRPS). PRPS is a Government-Off-the- Shelf (GOTS) Web-based application on Amazon Web Services that automates the Purchase Instrument (PI) development process for approximately 3,000 Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) Supply Chain Managers (SCM). PRPS is used to create PIs to sustain the weapons systems spare pipeline. The PI packages include all applicable logistics and engineering data needed to solicit bids to buy spares and repair actions. 


This position reports to the Program Manager and is located in Dayton, Ohio. 


  • Handle customer technical support cases through phone and email communications
  • Develop solutions for user reported issues
  • Submit tickets to track the troubleshooting process for a user reported issue or to report a user requested enhancement
  • Evaluate software change requests to ensure it is aligned with policy and regulations for user community acceptance
  • Update process documents to ensure continuity of operations when new personnel join the project
  • Update project briefings to support management monitoring and oversight
  • Update technical workarounds to facilitate repeatable approaches toward resolving PI processing issues
  • Conduct tests to evaluate impacts of new technology on development of purchase instruments
  • Conduct tests to verify software changes meet the intent and requirements identified by the baseline change request or deficiency report
  • Collect relevant data and analyzing it to support customer requirements
  • Prepare training material for users
  • Inform the user community of any system wide issues through emails and system advisory notices
  • Propose system enhancements to increase user efficiency and system usability
  • Ensure all aspects of the new functional requirements requested by the user community abide by the Air Force policies/regulations and do not contaminate downstream interface partner systems
  • Maintain system functionality by monitoring interface communications


  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree or above in computer science, information systems, or related field

  • Required Knowledge/Experience:
    • Two plus (2+) years of experience working on a Helpdesk in IT or similar technical function
    • Exceptional writing skills, especially when writing functional requirements and test scenarios
    • Can quickly adapt to new and changing work requirements
    • Excellent hands-on problem-solving and troubleshooting skills that are customer-service focused
    • Good understanding of how external communications between applications work
    • Able to communicate technical information in an accessible manner to non-technical employees
    • Experience with working in a collaborative environment
    • Good understanding of networking and database principles
    • Extremely organized and able to effectively prioritize and execute multiple tasks
  • Preferred Knowledge/Experience:
    • Process improvement for software applications, a user community, and technical support of them
    • Familiar with Agile software methodology
    • Experience in using a test environment to evaluate new or fixed software before it is deployed into Production
